Newfoundland Historical Cartoons
January 23, 2006
Canada's Digital Collections is one of the largest sources
of Canadian content on the web and one of their iniatives was to fund
a series of Flash animated short films of key moments in Newfoundland history.
Newfoundland in a Flash has cartoon adaptations
of Leif Erikson's trip to L'Anse aux Meadows, Cabot's journey
to Bonavista, Marconi's adventures on Signal Hill
and the story of the Beothuks.
While not glitzy or exciting
the animation is functional and
serves up some important moments in Newfoundland
history in an accessible and child-friendly way.

Functional.
Hmmm...
Must've been in
a charitable mood when I wrote that.

I don't need...
last names to know who Debbie and Toni-Marie are and I can find my way from Happy Adventure to Misery Point in the fog. My morning comes a half hour earlier and any day without 'RDF' is good. I've seen a mummer, tasted toutons and the image conjured by the word Dildo might be different for me than you because I'm a product of this place.
