Shaun Majumder's Suicide*
January 26, 2006
*Okay, that's a misleading title but
Shaun Majumder's Short Film Titled Suicide is way too long.
Like him or not,
Newfoundland comic Shaun Majumder has a great website
it features a blog, collection of his photographs and
lots of video clips of his work.
One inclusion worth checking
out is a short film titled Suicide.
It's proof-positive that Majumder's taste in dark humour
runs deeper than Hatching, Matching and Dispatching.

I was surprised by his blog. I thought working on the CBC, they'd have his political opinions reined in a little more. Good for him though for saying what's on his mind.

I was impressed.
I'd be more impressed
if he were more dilagent
in his posting.
There is nothing sorrier
than a forgotten blog. - At Thursday, January 26, 2006 11:06:00 PM, Robert said...

Have you seen Mary Walsh's
Hathing Matching and Dispatching Blog? - At Thursday, January 26, 2006 11:34:00 PM, John Mutford said...

Just checked out Mary Walsh's blog. Not as surprised by her freedom to dis political parties and leaders (or to show favouritism) as Majumder's. He's still on 22 Minutes, which is obviously much more of a political show. I just figured that maybe the CBC would want him to stop saying things against say Harper, to avoid him (Harper) boycotting those "interviews" with the show.
On another note, I was reading over the praise from viewers of Hatching, Matching, and Dispatching. I'm not as impressed. The only thing more pathetic than prudes who can't stand the talk of anything sexual are those that get off on offending them. And I fear the show's quickly becoming just that, a cheap shock-sitcom. It needs to offer more than recycled Tom Green bits if it's going to get me to tune in each week. - At Thursday, January 26, 2006 11:41:00 PM, Robert said...

I still plan to tune in tomorrow
but the shine is wearing off fast.
Shock comedy only works
in the short term once you expect
the shock it just ain't funny. I'd
love to see the show actually achieve the witty black comedy
for which critics were swooning.
(It's barely managed to make me giddy.)
As a side note,
I thought the spoofing
of Newfoundland sitcoms
offered by 22 Minutes last week
was pretty much spot-on. - At Friday, January 27, 2006 1:06:00 AM, Scotty said...

That blog is pathetic.
I used to have an inferiority complex about the state/size of my blog.
Consider that complex resolved, null and void.

I don't need...
last names to know who Debbie and Toni-Marie are and I can find my way from Happy Adventure to Misery Point in the fog. My morning comes a half hour earlier and any day without 'RDF' is good. I've seen a mummer, tasted toutons and the image conjured by the word Dildo might be different for me than you because I'm a product of this place.
