Writing Challenge: Tanka Time

After the favourable response to the 55 fiction challenge
I've decided that, from time to time, I'd like to issue a weekend writing
challenge to my readers and the world wide web-at-large.

This week I heard about an interesting visual arts project
running out of Charlottetown, PEI in which painters were given the unfinished work of other artists to complete. It made me think of tanka -- the Japanese verse form.

Tanka's are essentially haikus capped off with two additional 7 syllable lines (making it, in syllable
structure, 5-7-5-7-7). The trick is, historically, the additional two lines are added by a different author.

So here's the challenge --
submit a haiku to which someone can add a couple of extra lines or
express yourself by adding to the work of another contributor.

Don't worry about making art, make fun instead.

I've left a few haikus to get the process started
leave your creations in the comments section --

all are welcome!

on candidate tongue
melting like ice on brimstone-
uniqueness goes unchallenged.

Reliving the feel of sun
Which disappeared with the wind

Miscommunication breeds
Tourettes inflicted offspring.

Even the mighty dispair

Static in my ears,
I re-assemble your words
Into poems I can print.

Of the kind I do not like.

Haiku Four (Tanified)

Quartz cracked the black cliff
Marked monuments with a curse
You'll suffer me still:
Our ribbon of clarity
Will outlast the time and tide.

Haiku Four (Tanked Again)

Marked monuments with a curse.
You'll suffer me still
With angelic grace on earth,
Voice lifted in purest verse.

last names to know who Debbie and Toni-Marie are and I can find my way from Happy Adventure to Misery Point in the fog. My morning comes a half hour earlier and any day without 'RDF' is good. I've seen a mummer, tasted toutons and the image conjured by the word Dildo might be different for me than you because I'm a product of this place.
