Newfoundland at Castle of Spirits
March 31, 2008
According to the calender it is spring.
According to Mother Nature it is not -- at least not here in Newfoundland.
While the days are growing longer, the temperature remains low
and the snowdrifts high. Perhaps, if only for a moment,
we can convince ourselves that it is in fact warmer
and that our shivering is the result of
something a little creepier.
Castle of Spirits, one of
the planet's largest ghost story archives
has plenty of stories to set your spine a-tingle...
some of them set right here in Newfoundland.
Any number of them will keep me awake tonight if I let them
but it is experiences like those recounted in Little Red Riding Hood
that make me afraid to drive alone. I'm such a chicken.

I don't need...
last names to know who Debbie and Toni-Marie are and I can find my way from Happy Adventure to Misery Point in the fog. My morning comes a half hour earlier and any day without 'RDF' is good. I've seen a mummer, tasted toutons and the image conjured by the word Dildo might be different for me than you because I'm a product of this place.
