Name That Ferry
April 27, 2008
Marine Atlantic
has finally realized
what its customers have known
for a while -- it's time to get a new ferry
for the Newfoundland - Cape Breton run.
Starting in the fall of 2008
Marine Atlantic will begin leasing a new RoPax ferry,
originally biult for ferrying passengers between Estonia and Helsinki.
The new vessel is significantly larger than any ferry currently in the fleet
an will be capable of carrying up to 531 cars.
In addition to finding a new home,
the ship will get a new 'made right here' name.
School children from Newfoundland and Cape Breton are invited
to submit nominations until May 30, 2008. You can learn more about the contest
and vessel by visiting the Marine Atlantic website.

531 cars is impressive -- The Caribou only carries 350.

I don't need...
last names to know who Debbie and Toni-Marie are and I can find my way from Happy Adventure to Misery Point in the fog. My morning comes a half hour earlier and any day without 'RDF' is good. I've seen a mummer, tasted toutons and the image conjured by the word Dildo might be different for me than you because I'm a product of this place.
